About Us

Na Joomelah is a Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) program funded by the Department of Health and Aged Care and operated by the La Perouse Local Aboriginal Land Council in the greater Sydney and Illawarra region.

As a population health team who primarily services Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, we have three main objectives:

  • Facilitate smoke and vape - free community education and engagement

  • Support smoke-free events

  • Assist organisations to implement smoke-free policies

Our Story

Na Joomelah (Na - Joom - eh - lah) translates to 'no smoking'

Our program artwork highlights the Burri Burri (humpback whale), the overarching ancestral being of the Dharawal people that links our creation stories from Sydney Harbour to the Illawarra.
